Previously, I had been playing the classes that demand unique play
styles (like knight, monk, etc) but I wanted to start the tournament
with a straightforward "beat em till they stop moving" game.

It was a no-nonsense game and I didn't waste much time trying to
over-prepare.  For the first time, I used a "get through Gehennom
quick" strategy by digging down and mapping aternate levels, which
worked out pretty well and let me finish 10k turns faster than I had
ever done before.
