Hadn't played ranger in twelve years, so fired one up for the June
Nethack tournament.  My first try ended badly with a mumak in the
mines, but this second go stuck.

It was an odd game.  Itzak had two magic lamps in minetown, plus a
co-aligned altar, so I went with GDSM.  Below, I ran into two bones
levels with some crazy out-of-depth monsters.  One had a master mind
flayer that got a chunk of my brain, and an Aleax wearing plate mail.
The other had three or four giants.

Came out with gauntlets of power, an amulet of reflection, and jumping
boots.  Actually had most of my kit by the time I hit the quest level.
The game gave me pretty much everything I needed by the time I hit the
castle.  Had to use a wish on free action, and then tidied up some
odds and ends.  Never found gold detection.  Ended up polypiling to
get a couple then wrote the rest.

Didn't waste too much time on the planes, and went right up the middle
throught Famine on Astral, with a last wish for a Helm of Opposite
Alignment when it turned out to be Lawful.
