November Nethack Tournament 2025


Played with the Surly Dinos this year.

First run as a wizard with no special conducts picked up 266
achievements.  I was playing chaotic, but found Vorpy in a shop and
was ready to take out Medusa with it.  Opened the door and she blasted
me with a wand of death which bounced off of me and took herself out!
Oh well, unlucky with that, but got lucky on a few others.

Had a couple of good deaths.  Played an athiest, deaf priest to the
start of the quest, then when preparing to go further, I ran into a
titan on the devteam level who summon-stormed me and I got
curb-stomped.

After that, played a Valk to get the mojo achievement, got the amulet
but then splatted due to a weird turn of events.  Was picking up a lot
of curses after killing Rodney and the invocation didn't work because
the book got cursed.  Uncursed the book, but forgot to ring the bell
again, so I ended up raising the dead.  No big deal, but I didn't
notice that my lizard corpse was resurrected!.  Later on my way
up and out, I ran into a cockatrice, and when I started to turn to
stone, I had absolutely no way to fix it.

Finished up with another human wizard, doing foodless.  Didn't want to
scum any games this year, so I was playing the trash games to pick up
other achievements.  This particular game, I had trash rings but a
wand of poly so I spun the dice and came up with hunger and slow
digestion!  Took a little while to figure it out, but I made it work
and ended the tournament with 331/368 achievements for #4 overall.
The Dinos got an amazing 368/368 for the #1 spot.
