Shirt #26 - The Wizard
2019-03-10
Short-sleeve casual shirt in a cotton print that has purple and black swirls with gold stars. Now in the collection of David Betz.
Completed around 2019-03-10. This was the first short sleeve shirt that I made. The fit was reasonable, but I started with a pattern sized for unwashed flannel. The plain cotton shrunk less than flannel producing a slightly baggy fit.
I still prefer to use flannel unwashed with an oversized pattern because it is faster and easier to sew without post-wash poofy fuzz. Later, I developed a "near net shape" pattern that for use with everything else. Pre-shrinking fabrics adds the extra washing and ironing steps, but yields consistent results.
