Cosplay - Doc Brown

2024-04-06

For July 4th, there was a chance that I would need to appear as Doc Brown, so I knocked together this costume.

The base was a Tyvek jumpsuit, but they normally have hoods and do not have any pockets or other decoration. The original costume had a low collar, breast and waist pockets, and all details trimmed in neon orange.

I debate the wisdom of an isolation suit with pockets to collect contaminated material, but the costume is the costume!

I removed the hood, finished the collar, and used the excess Tyvek to add a breast pocket. Sewing the Tyvek was not terribly difficult, but it was quite slippery, and required careful control. I trimmed the details with neon orange nylon.

The pocket is decorated with a pocket protector and red/green wax pencils that I just happened to already have in my machining toolbox! The bulldog clip holds a copy of the same telephone area code and time zone map that was used in the original. The stopwatch is the same make, but a modern version with LCD display instead of the original LED one.

It took a couple of trys to find a good wig, but I'm fairly happy with this one. I didn't go for the tool belt, but I do have some metalic fabric for the glove holding bag if I ever decide to revisit this.
